I am only a young boy, just 2 years old, but I have already suffered more than any dog should in a lifetime. I was brought to Soi Dog with a terrible wound on my neck. The vets suspected that somebody had stabbed me. I was crying in pain and absolutely terrified. My name is Dean.
The wound on my neck was badly infected as it had been left untreated for so long. When the vets examined it, they saw that it was full of dead maggots. They started me on medicine and they carefully cleaned my wound every day. I really did not like that part. Because no humans had ever helped me before, I kept thinking they were trying to hurt me.
I soon learnt that I was wrong. My wound has healed so well and I no longer think about that awful thing that happened to me. In the beginning, I would only let the Soi Dog people pat me gently on the head. Before long though, I started wagging my tail when I saw them. I wanted them to know that I was happy to see them. Now, I beg for cuddles when they visit and I won’t leave their side.
I wish I could meet the members of the Emergency Response Team because I would cuddle them too. Did you know that they are a group of Soi Dog supporters, living all over the world, but helping the suffering dogs and cats of Thailand? Their monthly donations are the reason Soi Dog were able to get me better.
I know there are other suffering animals still out there and I hope that they too can be saved. YOU could be the person to help them by signing up to join the Emergency Response Team. Can you do that for me? All you have to do is click on my photo. In a few short steps, you will be rescuing suffering dogs and cats from a lifetime of misery and showing them that there really are humans who care.
