This is beautiful account is from Koo. Koo had earlier written to Wani and me, asking if we could help sponsor the medical treatment of a dog, rescued from Section 19. We both replied we'd certainly help.
Then....
Dear Dr Chan,
I have some positive news about the Section 19 stray but most friendly dog.
Firstly, BOTH the parents and one of the 2 daughters (the one back for holidays from studies in Australia) came (the other daughter has went to Singapore again) at our 6pm appointment at the vet's to collect the dog.
While waiting, I had my late 'lunch' in a restaurant next to the vet but they came earlier and sat with me to have a chat. I broached on the subject of adoption with the father. Apparently, they once had a dog before but it has passed away from old age and the parents didn't want to go through the emotional pain of losing a loved pet again. As you know, another of their worries was that the parents would go on month-long trips to visit their daughter in Australia and no one would take care of the dog but when I offered to foster the dog while they were overseas, the father was seriously considering my offer.
When we finally went into the vet's office, the daughter closely followed me to the back to retrieve the dog who was happy and wagging his tail upon seeing us. I could see that she was now more attached to him because she held him tight when we brought him out and the parents could clearly see this too. This was amazing because I know this daughter only known about this dog from her sister (she told me in our Facebook messaging) and yet, in the short time (less than one week) that she's back, she clearly loves this dog. I already had a hunch that the mother was receptive to adopting him but the father was the only one resisting.
But then, the father paid the FULL sum of RM325 which includes the neutering, vaccination, de-worming, Frontline and stitching of the cut paw IN ADDITION to a pack of both Heartgard and Frontline. He also brushed aside my offer to partially offset the fee (I didn't tell them of MDDB's or AnimalCare's subsidy offer). For him to 'invest' that much in the dog, I don't think they will just give it up for adoption although I did mention about the adoption drive this Sunday.
I helped them transport the dog back to their home and had a quick chat with the daughter who was in my car with the dog during the journey and from the feedback, there's a very, very good chance that the family will adopt the dog, hopefully from the persuasion and demonstrative care shown by the 2 daughters.
I will give the daughter a call again this Friday to check whether they still want to give the dog up for adoption. But I'm hopeful that the time they will spent with this dog in the next few days would create the necessary bond between them and persuade the father to allow the dog to be part of their family.

And then, the follow-up...
Dear Dr Chan, I just received an update that I've been praying for: The father has finally given permission for the sisters to adopt the dog! The only condition is that their dog must be successfully fostered by me during this weekend when they are away for 4 days. Ah, that would be easy peasy for me since I've fostered numerous dogs. I immediately agreed to take on this challenge with all my heart and also asked the sister to give a permanent name to her dog. We are now closer to another happy ending for a deserving doggy! When I received the news that this doggy was still out there as a result of a false adoption claim, I rushed to the Section 19 playground and was vastly relieved to find that he's still safe and sound. As you can see, he was so friendly that he wagged his tail even he has only seen me once before. But I worry that his overfriendliness could be his undoing if the dog catchers came... After weeks of discussion and planning, the sisters and I finally caught the doggy and here, he was being rushed to the vet before it closed. The trigger to this event was the news over the weekend that there was a potential adopter in Bukit Jalil but the offer lapsed on Sunday. However, this could have been a blessing in disguise because it probably made the sisters realised just how much they love him... The sister lovingly greeting her doggy when we went to to collect him.
