VETERAN SHIELDS CAR-STRUCK DOG WITH HIS OWN BODY

(Dog is Alive & Recovering)

Iraq war veteran Aaron Schneider crossed three lanes of highway traffic to shield the body of a beagle who had been struck by a car in Lees Summit, Missouri.

Because the dog was in pain and defensive, it took Aaron a full three house, in the rain, to gain sufficient trust to lift the beagle into a friend’s pickup truck.

A US Army Reserve veteran, Aaron told his local FOX news affiliate WDAF that his combat experience in Iraq shaped his response. He has simply seen too much loss of life.

The middle-aged beagle went to the ICU at BluePearl Veterinary Partners. Despite serious injuries,he is expected to heal. Aaron has been visitng the dog, he now calls Buster, and watching his improvement with great relief.

And best yet, Aaron plans to adopt the dog himself if Buster himself if the dog’s original family remains unidentified.

Anyone out there who doesn’t love this guy?

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
