CAT RESCUER PASSES AWAY

—– MARYLAND ADOPTERS & FOSTERS NEEDED —-

Jim Schultz Asks for Help Placing His Brother’s Beloved Cats

“My older brother, Bill was a hero to cats for numerous years and was caring for a very large number of cats and feral colonies. He also rescued feral kittens and brought them into his home to raise and successfully domesticated the majority of those he saved.

He died and left behind a very large number of cats in the place that he was living. I, along with my sister and Bill’s best friend Tom have been caring for and feeding the apartment full of cats since March 11th.

We started out with about 56 cats and have successfully removed about 38 from the location. The Humane Society of Charles County has been our biggest support system. They currently are holding about 15 of Bills and are conducting an Adoption Fair today in the hopes that they will free up more space to take more of Bill’s cats.

I have created a fb page about our cause: Bill’s Kitties Need Forever Homes. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bills-Kitties-Need-Forever-Homes/653569324678329 Each photo of the cats on the page has a comment with a description of the cat

There are approximately 18 indoor cats of various ages ranging from (guessing) 2 to 10 years all of which have been spayed/neutered and were kept up on vaccinations by the Humane Society of Charles County, MD. They have a file on my brother’s cats that is over an inch thick.

The vets at the Humane Society have been examining all that have been pulled for free as my brother indeed was well loved and respected by the rescue community.

I’ve been involved in catch/spay/neuter/release efforts on feral colonies before and appreciate the idea of no kill operations. My brother would have it no other way and I am committed to honor that.

“”"”"Our biggest challenge right now is that the landlord/homeowner is at the end of his patience and is demanding that the apartment be emptied immediately. He has given us over two months and has stated that he can no longer promise not to call in animal control and have the cats removed and my guess surely sentenced to death.”

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
