Happy Tails From SPCA!

Rescued from the streets, Reever was taken in by a rescuer W and her kind family. He was fostered for less than a month. When W took him home, he was so afraid of everything and everyone that his ears flipped back against his sharp pointed head and his eyes grew so big and dilated that they decided to name him “Fish”, since W’s boys thought that he looked like “ Nemo”; the lost little fish in the popular animated movie “ Finding Nemo.”
Sometime later, he was brought back to SPCA. During the first few days here he was a very timid and nervous boy. Jumping at sudden noises, fleeing from people with his tail between his legs and avoiding any sort of physical contact with visitors—he was lost and was longing for a real, permanent home.
After hours days of quiet conversation, patient walks around the neighborhood and plenty of dog treats later, Reever overcame a little of his fear and shyness—enough to allow a stranger to pet him, if they approached at a slow and steady pace. Instead of hiding in some dark corner somewhere, he could be found running around with the other dogs at the backyard area of the temporary SPCA bungalow.
It wasn’t until about 2 months of staying with the SPCA that when Miss Veronica Ong showed interest in this timid little dog. Although reluctant to leave another place he had gotten used to, a home to call his own was just what Reever needed.
It was then that Reever’s true personality was able to shine and come to life. His mornings are spent in the kitchen having breakfast with his new family, and he enjoys spending the rest of the day running around in the garden and finding a cool spot to nap and sleep after exerting himself. During the weekends he goes on long walks, exploring his neighborhood and sniffing out new things to discover.
Owner Veronica states that Reever has completely lost his shyness. It has been replaced instead with
cheeky confidence. This can especially be seen when he eagerly awaits his family at the front door every morning, his tail wagging happily—something that Miss Veronica loves to see every day.
The happy Reever has also gained some weight since the last time we had seen him at the SPCA. The faint outlines of his ribcage are no longer visible, and he’s now being fed hearty meals each day so that he can achieve his ideal weight.
