Jomel, A Victim Of Neglect And Despair

My name is Jomel and I am a little boy of just 13 weeks old. I have never known love, I have never known happiness. I have lived every day of my short life on the streets of Phuket, with no owner to take care of me. I have lived 13 weeks of misery.

I was brought to Soi Dog from a mobile clinic, with a very nasty skin condition. The vets told me it is called sarcoptic mange. This is very easily spread among us street dogs and has caused some of my fur to fall out or go crusty. The itching has been very bad and I have been scratching myself a lot, so I have made things even worse.

Now that I am at Soi Dog, I am getting the treatment I need to get rid of this horrible thing. The vets are very nice to me and give me my medication every day. They tell me that one day I will be all better and I will be a very handsome boy. They are so nice to me that I wag my tail in happiness. I think they really love me.

Dr. Sai told me that I am only here because of the Emergency Response Team. They are people who live all over the world and help Soi Dog to care for street dogs and cats, but they need more help to keep going.
