LAUNDRY BASKET BECOMES “NEST” FOR FALLEN OWLET
A baby Great Horned Owl thought to have blown out of his tree on a windy day, is now back in the nest thanks to a little ingenuity and a whole lot of love.
A homeowner who had been aware of the fallen owl in her driveway for a couple days, called the Bull Valley Police Department in Illinois to ask for help. Commander Page arrived on scene and carefully placed the cold owlet inside a box.
It was just so glad to be warm because it had been out in the cold and in the snow, said Commander Page who brought the owlet to the McHenry County Conservation District for critical care.
Within days, the owlet was ready to return to home and a laundry basket was securely rigged in the tree to raise the baby towards his mom where a happy reunion is underway. (Photo: Sara Denham, McHenry County Conservation District)
