Babies Pokila And Pek Recovering From Pain

Hi, my name is Pokila and I would also like you to meet my friend Pek. You might remember us but if not, you can read how our story started here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.699244903450581.1073742857.108625789179165&type=1
Pek and I are both about 9 weeks of age and we arrived at Soi Dog on the same day. We were both brought here from a mobile clinic. As you can see, we already have a lot in common, except that Pek is a boy and I am a girl, and Pek is white in colour and I am black and white.
We were taken to Soi Dog because I had a nasty open and infected wound that was hurting me a lot, and Pek had a build-up of fluid in his tummy because of a bacterial infection. He was in a lot of pain too and we were both very lucky to be found.
The vets here were very nice to us. They drained all the fluid out of Pek’s belly and they put him on antibiotics. They cleaned and repaired my wound and then they also put me on antibiotics so my infection would go away. The vets told us we also had blood parasites and gave us treatment to make those nasty things go away.
We are in the puppy kennels at the moment and love playing with our new friends. Pek is very happy with the other little dogs but he is still a little bit shy with the humans. I’ve tried telling him not to be silly and I show him what to do when the humans arrive – just run to them and try to scramble up their legs for cuddles! Pek prefers to have a human sit beside him and pat him gently on the head, and after that he will let them pick him up. I’m sure he too will soon be climbing the human legs for cuddles, it’s such fun!
The vets told me that Pek and I are only here because of the Emergency Response Team. They are nice people, all over the world, who help Soi Dog save the lives of dogs like us. I get scared when I think what would have happened to us without them, and then I get sad when I think of all the other animals that still need help. If you enjoyed meeting Pek and I, please visit http://bit.ly/1kHpKto and promise to help another dog today.
