INJURED EAGLE NOW SAFE, “It’s Going to Be OK Sweetheart”

The Harmony Fund recently donated a specialized bow net to the Animal Rescue League of Boston. This gift was not only a way to rescue wildlife in precarious circumstances, but also as a gesture of gratitude for the League’s brave and devoted assistance in the rescue of a deer on an icy lake last year.

The bow net turned out to be the perfect tool for the rescue of an injured juvenile bald eagle a few days ago. With the assistance of a local animal control officer in Tygsboro, Massachusetts, the League was able to quickly set up the bow net, bait it with food and capture the injured bird in minutes. The eagle was taken to Tufts Wildlife Center and is reported to be eating well and making a solid recovery from a fracture.

Hopefully it won’t be long until the eagle is strong enough to return to the wild. To see a quick video clip of the eagle’s capture with the net, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBMY6AfhJ74&feature=youtu.be

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
