One Lucky Boys Rescue From Excruciating Pain; Meet Zeltix

This is Zeltix, a two year old boy whose life could have taken a very different turn had he not come to Soi Dog. Zeltix is a street dog, of which there are many in Thailand. These dogs often live their whole lives on the streets and have never known anything else. Some have people who feed them; others spend their days scavenging for food.

Zeltix was brought to Soi Dog by a concerned local who had noticed him hanging around a nearby school. Zeltix appeared to have a large tumour or growth of some kind in his belly. Dr Su performed surgery in order to remove this tumour, but was in for a surprise. Reduced to hunting through trash, Zeltix had inadvertently swallowed a skewer in his desperation to eat something that smelt like food.

This skewer had been swallowed intact and had remained so in his abdomen. Flesh had grown around it, giving it a hard consistency which could easily be mistaken for a tumour. Dr Su removed the skewer and Zeltix has been on the mend ever since. His wound is being monitored and treated every day and it is healing well.

Think about how things would have ended for Zeltix were it not for the Emergency Response Team. They are animal lovers just like you, based all over the world, who help us save countless street dogs and cats on a daily basis, but there are not enough of them.
