Celinas Life Hangs In The Balance As She Battles Cancer

Meet Celina, a brave young girl of just 3 years of age, who is currently fighting for her life. Celina came to Soi Dog with TVT tumours on her bottom. TVT is a form of cancer easily spread between dogs and is sadly very common among street dogs in a tropical climate such as we have here in Thailand.

On arrival at the shelter, Celina was examined by our vets. In addition to TVT tumours, the vets diagnosed kidney failure, blood parasites and anaemia. Celina was started on medication and given food supplements to speed up recovery. In the beginning, Celina was a little nervous when being examined by the vets no doubt she was confused about where she was, as well as being in pain.

During the early stages of treatment, her appetite was poor but she started to look better over time. Since her admission, Celinas tumours have shrunk significantly and she is looking healthier and happier. She is progressing slowly every day and has gone from being fearful of the vets to wagging her tail when she sees them. This little girl knows Soi Dog is fighting to save her life.

Celina may have a very long journey ahead, but it is one that would never have even started were it not for the Emergency Response Team. These supporters from around the world help us save the lives of dogs and cats like Celina on a daily basis.
