DOG HERO SURVIVES ATTEMPTED MURDER:

Hundreds of Dogs Now Counting on Us For Food & Sanctuary

Last year, Warin Taphaothong was thrown to the ground by her brother-in-law Dom when she tried to protect her nephew from yet another beating. Enraged by her interference, Dom (who was a killer-for-hire) shot Warin in the chest. By some miracle the bullet veered away from Warin’s heart and instead went clear through her lung and into the ground below.

After her long hospital stay, Warin agonized about the hundreds of dogs waiting for her. She wondered if the dogs thought she had abandoned them. For years Warin had not only cared for the dogs at her sanctuary, but also in the community where she delivers food to street dogs and organizes spay/neuter projects, an unheard of ministry in Thailand.

For months after the shooting, Warin was unable to return to her sanctuary because Dom (unpunished for his crimes due to his political connections) remained free and steadfast in his vow to finish what he started.

But a strange thing happened next. Quite suddenly, Dom, a man only in his 40s, was stricken with cancer. It was swift and deadly. Within weeks he was simply gone. Warin could now return to the dogs without fearing for her life.

“According to my religion, it was my help to so many stray dogs that took care I did not die,” Warin said.

A parcel of land near a pineapple grove will become the new home to the sanctuary which is now being forced to move because neighbors complained of the dogs barking so much during Warin’s hospitalization. We have a GOLDEN opportunity today to bring the dogs to safety and settle them in at the new sanctuary. It will have the capacity for electricity and city water, and Warin dares to dream of a proper kitchen to cook for the dogs. And with no neighbors nearby, the dogs can be free to ‘speak’ as often as they’d like.

Warin has no income of her own. Her life is devoted to the dogs. She’s now counting on the Harmony Fund for the miracle ahead. We would be very, very, very grateful for donations.
