Brave Nova Still Fighting To Survive

My name is Nova; I am a 4 year old girl. If you havent met me, you can read my original story here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.681312561910482.1073742748.108625789179165&type=3

I came to Soi Dog after Animal Rescue Officer Khun Thep spotted me at a local temple. He noticed a very bad smell coming from me and saw that I had a large tumour on my vagina, which meant I could easily have been mistaken for a boy. Khun Thep thought that this tumour might be something called TVT, which is a type of cancer a lot of us street dogs get. It is easily passed from dog to dog and is very common in hot climates like ours.

When the vets at the shelter examined me, they saw that Khun Thep was right. If they did not treat the TVT, things would get a lot worse for me – it could spread to many other parts of my body and I could die. The vets started me on some very strong medicine called chemotherapy. It has to be strong to fight my cancer but it means that I do not feel very hungry when I am on it. This is why I look a bit skinny in my pictures.

The vets are keeping a very close eye on me and take good care of me every day. They hope the chemotherapy will work and my cancer will go away. Then I will be able to eat and play like normal dogs. I love everyone who is taking care of me at Soi Dog.

I am lucky the Emergency Response Team was able to help me, but there are so many other dogs out there that also need help. You can be the person who provides it, even if you are not in Thailand, by visiting https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html and joining the team today.
