Courageous Nova Battling Cancer

Hello there, Im Nova remember me? If not, you can read how my story started here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.681312561910482.1073742748.108625789179165&type=3

I came to the shelter when Animal Rescue Officer Khun Thep spotted me at a local temple in the course of his duties. Anyone who looked at me might have thought I was a boy, because I had a large tumour on my vagina. Khun Thep noticed that there was a bad smell coming from me and he thought the tumour might be something called TVT. TVT is a type of cancer that is easily spread between us dogs, especially in hot climates and where there are a lot of street dogs like me.

Khun Thep brought me to Soi Dog so the vets could examine me. They told him he was right and that I had this TVT cancer. It is a very nasty disease and dogs that get it can also have urinary tract problems, nosebleeds, swollen lymph nodes and a swollen face. As you can see, I am a very pretty lady (even if they thought I was a boy) so I really didnt want a swollen face. But most of all, if I didnt get the right medicine, the cancer would take over my brain, liver, spleen, and muscles, so I would probably die quite soon.

The nice vets started me on something called chemotherapy, which is a very strong medicine to fight the cancer. The medicine means I am not always hungry, so I am a little bit skinny in these photos. Some days are okay though and I eat a little bit more. The best news of all though is that the medicine is working and the horrible tumour is getting smaller all the time.

The vets hope that I will soon be completely better and I am happy they are taking care of me. I know that I am only here because of the Emergency Response Team and there are many other dogs like me who need your help.
