A Note About Pos Ekspres And Persistent Late Applications
Tweet |
Lately, a lot of applications have arrived late even though they were sent by Pos Ekspres (which is what we recommend our applicants to do because it’s much cheaper than Poslaju and it used to guarantee a next-day delivery).
So I went to enquire at the post office and was told that there is no more guaranteed next-day delivery for Pos Ekspres now.
The Pos Ekspres envelopes used to look like these:

The postal clerk then showed me the envelopes (see below) and there is no more “Dijamin sampai esok” printed on the envelope. Please see below:
Oh, I didn’t know this…no wonder the applications sent by Pos Ekspres no longer arrive on the next day now. The clerk told me it now takes 3-4 days for Pos Ekspres to arrive at its destination. “Kalau mahu next-day delivery, pakai Poslaju”, she said.
What prompted me to check was an application in which the applicant told me she posted three days ago. She gave me the tracking number and I checked, but according to the tracking, there was no such consignment. Her application was already very late and her deadline was yesterday (she posted two days before the deadline and she was resending because her first receipt did not bear her full name and we could not pay her). Her first application was already sent close to the deadline, which comes back to my appeal to all applicants, please read our policies (ensure the receipt is issued in your full name – like a broken tape recorder, I already remind everyone by email when they apply) and please, please, please, please, please post your application as soon as you have got your receipt. Please do not delay. It’s not that we do not want to pay you or we are purposely making life difficult for you. But our policies have been made clear to you on the outset – we have a 2-week deadline. So, please ensure your form and receipt arrive on time?
There’s no use extending the deadline to 4 weeks because persistent late-people will just push it to 2 days before 4 weeks to post it, correct? And most likely, after 4 weeks, they would have forgotten where they have placed the receipt!
Why can’t they post it on the same day?
Like a broken tape recorder, I repeat myself each time (“Please ensure your receipt arrives no later than 2 weeks from the date on the receipt”). I type this so often, I can type it blindfolded now.
Like a broken tape recorder, the excuse late applicants give is: “I was busy”.
Oh well, who is not busy, pray tell?
Being busy is a good thing, you know. It keeps the mind and body active and “alive”. Being busy means you have lots to do (and you get them done), it doesn’t mean you have no time to do what you’re supposed to do. The latter is called procrastination; it’s not being busy.
Juggling between work, human family, household chores, taking care of 14-15 cats, running AnimalCare (posting merchandise daily, paying out claims, writing reports for each claim, etc.), I pay out all subsidies on the SAME DAY we receive the form and receipt. And the blogpost is up ON THE SAME DAY. Report written on the same day too. Merchandise posted on the same day payment is received (even if I have to drive to the post office twice). All emails replied within 24 hours. These are my responsibilities and I have to make sure I carry them out ON TIME. Otherwise, I had better give up doing them, right?
I’m not complaining that I have lots to do because it’s my responsibility to do them and we are providing a service to the applicants (ie. we are giving them money). I’m just wondering why the applicant, as a recipient of this service (ie. receiving the money), cannot abide by our deadlines and comes up with the “I’m busy” excuse for being late. Now, this puzzles me quite a bit.
So, we come back to Pos Ekspres now. Since Pos Ekspres no longer guarantees next-day delivery, we have removed our “No courier and no Poslaju” condition.
You may now use Poslaju or courier, that is, if you insist on posting too close to the deadline. Otherwise, we already give you a 2-week grace period, your ordinary mail can go halfway around the world in 2 weeks. But then again, I’m not sure if it could go from Subang Jaya to Kuala Lumpur, though…(sorry, but recently, it merely took one day for our parcel to go from Subang Jaya to Miri, Sarawak, but it took FOUR days from Subang Jaya to Kuala Lumpur, both by Poslaju, posted on the same day, at the same post office. I called to ask and was told there were “operational difficulties” from Subang Jaya to KL).
I don’t know what else to say…hmm, drive personally to our postbox and plonk your application into the postbox? But make sure it’s the correct postbox, please.
So, whether it’s Pos Biasa or Pos Ekspres, Poslaju or courier, or driving personally to drop your application into our postbox, please ensure your application arrives no later than 2 weeks from the date on the receipt (and yes, I typed that part in bold with my eyes closed).
Thank you.
