All of us were treated to the sight of cherry blossoms ; the flowers of the Trumpet Tree following the aftermath of a prolonged period of dry spell in the recent month. And while the rest of the young macaques get to play and roll on the flowers alongside with their families in the wild, Suzzie doesn’t get to experience that.
BUT! there is no way that we are letting her be at a disadvantage! We flooded her holding place with the very same flowers. Its been 13 weeks since she was rescued and this was the first time we heard her squeal out of excitement. She was seen pouncing and playing with the flowers. It was an enrichment that surely raised her spirits up.
We are in the final stages of rehabilitation before she heads back home to her family. Hopefully, she will get to experience the joy of cherry blossoms in the near future, this time, out in the wild with her family!
