Dog Arrives At Shelter With Seriously Injured Paw From Accident
Tweet |
We were contacted recently about a dog who had been hit by a car at traffic lights who was not moving from the location she had been hit. Animal rescue officer Khun Thep rushed to the scene to find Paisa with a seriously injured paw.
Unfortunately, Paisa’s paw is beyond repair so she is due to undergo a leg amputation. While it may seem drastic to amputate a whole leg when only the paw is injured, it is most often that dogs do not do well with partial limbs. They have been known to frequently reinjure their stumps leading to chronic complication. As dogs can generally thrive with only three legs, it is usually kinder to amputate the whole leg to avoid recurring problems.
We will update you on Paisa’s surgery as soon as we can and on her progress adapting to having only three legs.
Only you can help dogs like Paisa receive the treatment and rehabilitation they need. To help Paisa and many other dogs like her, you can become a member of the Emergency Response Team today. To join, please visit https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html.
