Safari Sam Commences Chemotherapy For His Eye Tumour

Hi, my name is Safari Sam. If you didnt catch my story a few weeks ago, you can read it at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.676315469076858.1073742713.108625789179165&type=3

I came to the clinic at Soi Dog from the mobile sterilisation clinic because the vets saw that I had a problem with my eye. The vets realised I had TVT (transmissible venereal tumour), a type of cancer that is easily spread between dogs. This has caused the tumour in my eye and also one on my penis. I also have some skin problems, missing teeth and anaemia.

I am now having chemotherapy for the tumour in my eye and the one on my penis. I am pleased to say that although the medicine is making me not want to eat, my eye is starting to feel better. It is a lot less swollen and not as sore as when I first came in. I cant see out of it at the moment and the vets say I might not be able to after I finish the chemotherapy, but I think its at least worth trying. Because I have to wear a silly cone on my head, I cant see if my other tumour is shrinking yet.

Id really like to say thank you to all the members of the Emergency Response Team. I hear without their help, dogs like me could not receive the treatment we need. I dont know what I would have done if Soi Dog hadnt found me and taken me to their clinic. If you are not a member of this team, but want to help dogs (and cats) like me, please visit https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html to join today.
