Petey Is Recovering From Tumour Removal Surgery

Hi everyone, my name is Petey. I came to the shelter a couple of weeks ago with a maggot infested wound, a tumour and some other health problems. You can read my original story at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.666714683370270.1073742668.108625789179165&type=3

I am still in the clinic but now recovering from surgery to remove my tumour. I was pretty scared about having the operation, but Dr Sai promised me I would be asleep during it and wouldn’t feel a thing. When I woke up, I was a little bit sore, but I have been given medicine to help with that. Dr Sai also said she sterilised me when they were removing the tumour. I am glad they were able to do this at the same time so I didn’t have to have another operation later on.

I am now resting in the clinic and have been given some medicines to prevent an infection, which they say is a risk after surgery. I am a little bit off my food at the moment, so the carers have been tempting me with boiled eggs. The vets say this is the best food for dogs recovering from surgery as they are full of the nutrients we need.

I still have a little ways to go before I start to feel fully healthy again, but I am sure that the vets at Soi Dog will make me feel better. I really want to thank the generous supporters who help dogs like me get the treatment we need. It is the members of the Emergency Response Team that are so important in making sure Soi Dog is able to help us.
