WHAT TO DO IF A HUMMINGBIRD GETS TRAPPED IN YOUR GARAGE OR HOME
Written by Hummingbird Market online store http://www.hummingbirdmarket.com/index.html
Sometimes hummers are enticed into an open garage by the red accents on your childrens toys or the overhead garage doors red emergency release handle. Hummers natural instinct is to fly up thus humming around the ceiling. And it will be double stressed and nervous with you present.
* Keep kids and pets away so you dont further upset and stress the bird.
* Have patience for it to settle down and relax and hope it finds their way out.
* Hang or place a hummingbird feeder near the open door and perhaps it will be attracted and fly outdoors.
* If the above doesnt work within 10-15 minutes close the garage door and turn off the lights and cover the windows.
* Hummingbirds have poor night vision and dont like flying in the dark so it may just go to the floor.
* With a flashlight locate the bird and carefully and gently scoop up/ cup the bird with both hands and release outside.
* Please dont use a butterfly net or throw a towel at the hummer as that may injure a healthy bird.
IF you have a Hummingbird trapped in house:
* Try the above method(s)
* Open windows and doors and maybe itll fly out
* Try herding it in the direction of a door or window
Always keep in mind about the very severe laws about having a hummingbird in captivity.
