This week, we present you a sneak-peek at the new enclosure set up for Midori, one of our Green iguanas. A few years ago, he was rescued from an industrial area, with stomach ulcers resulting from razor blades in his stomach. (He is well now We routinely periodically change enclosure furniture for our enclosures, but this time – we took inspiration from the ‘shaking log’ enrichment that Valerie (one of our iguanas) got a few weeks ago. Expanding the idea, part of Midori’s enclosure can swing from side to side. This is to imitate the tree branches in the wild, and is part of our efforts to progress towards enclosure designs that mimic natural environment as much as possible.
Midori is yet to explore all of the furniture, as it may take a day or two for them to comfortably do so. We will bring you more updates in the coming days, on how Midori uses his logs.
We continuously look for logs/branches for our enclosures If you do come across logs that are similar in size to the ones in the video, We would be grateful if you could let us know or even transport them to us.
