Fogy Recovers From Leg Amputation

Hi, my name is Fogy. If you havent heard of me before, you can read my original story at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.664976913544047.1073742657.108625789179165&type=3

I have had a really bad leg injury for a long time now and recently a nice lady called Khun Saowanee found me in the Phang Nga area and took me to a vet for help. The vet told the nice lady that I needed an operation and that it would cost 8000 baht (approximately 240 USD). Khun Soawanee really wanted to help me, but she only had 3000 baht to help me. Desperate to help Khun Soawanee contacted Soi Dog Foundation to see if they could help me.

Soi Dog Foundation agreed to help me and sent me to a vet who knows a lot about broken legs. He said that my injury was too old and that surgery would not help me. The vets gave me some medicine and some time to rest to see if my leg would improve, but unfortunately it didnt and they were left with no choice to amputate it. I was so scared but they said it would be much easier for me to walk with one less leg than it would be with an injured leg. They also told me that they know lots of dogs who have had to have a leg amputated and they do just fine.

I am now recovering from my operation and while it feels a bit strange to be missing a leg, I am slowly starting to feel better. The vet assistants are getting me out regularly and helping me learn to stand and walk again. I am so thankful to Khun Soawanee, the vets at Soi Dog and the vet assistants. I am most of all grateful to the members of the Emergency Response Team. Without the people who are in this team, Soi Dog would not be able to help dogs like me who need care. If you are not a member of this team, but would like to help animals in need, please join today at https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html
