The Vaccination Schedule And Our Vaccination Subsidies

Ref:http://myanimalcare.org/2014/03/01/our-vaccination-subsidy/

With regard to the above, we have received feedback from applicants that their vets use the calendar month for the date of the booster, which is 30-31 days after the first vaccination. In light of this, yes, we will accept and subsidise if the booster is given after one calendar month from the first shot. This means, no later than one calendar month.

Please follow the recommended date on the card.

We have also checked with vaccine suppliers and was told that the booster should be administered within 21-30 days from the first vaccination.

However, another applicant claimed that her vet informed her that a 2-week delay (from the given date) is acceptable for the booster. We checked with her vet and apparently, there was a misunderstanding on her part. The vet explained that a delayed booster is better than not having done the booster at all but a delayed booster would cause the antibody production to not reach the optimum level. Hence, the protection from the booster would be significantly reduced. For optimum protection, the entire vaccination schedule would have to be repeated.

This boils back down to responsibility. If we want optimum protection for our rescues, shouldn’t we make the effort to ensure that vaccinations are given on time, especially if we are claiming a subsidy from a charity for them.

Hence, we wish to advise all applicants that we will only subsidise boosters that are given no later than one calendar month, as per the date written on the card. If you wish to claim from us, please ensure that the booster is given on time.

If you wish for your rescues to have optimum antibody protection from diseases, please also ensure the booster is given on time. Sloppiness and tardiness in this case will NOT help the animals at all.

does not exceed 1 calendar month
