Palmy Loses Her Leg To Serious Injury

Hi, my name is Palmy. I was found at nearby Nai Yang Beach with a serious wound on my foot. You can read my original story at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.659722960736109.1073742625.108625789179165&type=3
I was struggling on the street at Nai Yang Beach with a horrible foot injury. Unfortunately it was not getting better on its own and lucky for me, animal rescue officer Khun Thep noticed me and brought me back to the clinic at Soi Dog Foundation.
The vets examined me straight away and realised I had a serious infection in my leg. They were really hoping they would be able to fix it with medicines, but the infection spread. To stop it spreading to other parts of my body they had to make the hard decision to remove my leg.
I was so scared about what life would be like with 3 legs, but Dr Eed, who performed the operation told me not to worry. She said that many dogs have lost their leg through injury and they get by just as well as dogs with 4 legs. They still go for walks and probably get even more attention from volunteers because they are special. I felt much less nervous after Dr Eed told me that.
I had my surgery the other day and am now recovering in the clinic. I have been a bit tired and quiet since my surgery. Dr Andy did a blood test on me and found I had blood parasites, so I need to be treated for that now. Things have been tough for me, but I am sure I will get through it eventually as I know the vets are giving me the best care they can.
Dr Eed and Dr Andy have told me that I was only able to be helped due to the generosity of supporters who are part of the Emergency Response Team. This team allows urgent care to be given to dogs and cats like me.
