For this week’s post on animal care, we would like to share a Sunday project we did with Alex, our volunteer. We had an unused coffee table and decided to turn it into a shelter and climbing platform for our Indian star tortoises, we also had some scrap PVC pipes lying that we used to hang enrichments. Upcycling/reusing unwanted products is a fun and creative way to provide our animals with good environment to live in.

The project took just about 2 hours to complete and it has been providing our tortoises with terrain to climb and figure their swinging enrichments out. Others who prefer to rest have been using the nice shady area under the table to rest.

Enrichments and modifications to enclosures are a great away to keep our Indian star tortoises active, hopefully making them be more capable to adapt back in the wild.
