Patching Up Lexi - Donate Towards Life Saving Surgery

Patching up Lexi.

Please read and help if you can.

Lexi (originally called Patch) was adopted by Pat and Don Power in Vancouver, Canada from the Soi Dog Shelter in Phuket, Thailand. Lexi arrived at the shelter at 6 weeks old with a huge hole in her bottom & she spent several months in treatment. Sadly Lexi has been diagnosed with peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia, which is a serious condition and without surgery Lexi will not survive. This condition is very likely be curable with a lifesaving operation costing approx. $5000. We would like to help Pat and her family pay for this operation to save Lexi’s life. I have created a Facebook page called “Patching up Lexi” where you can read updates from Pat regarding Lexi’s condition and also donate to her surgery.

Lexi’s peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia is a birth defect. The condition involves the septum transversum (the lining that separates both cavities- peritoneal cavity and pericardial sac) didn’t completely form before birth and that means that her abdominal organs can move into her pericardial sac. Right now it looks like she has some of her small intestine in there and what’s most dangerous about this is if they twist, seriously endangering Lexi’s life.

Pat and her family previously adopted long term resident Jumper from the Soi Dog shelter 6 months ago. Tragically Jumper passed away suddenly from an unknown liver problem. The grief and healing process was helped with the arrival of little Lexi. In a tragic turn of events, Lexi now needs this life saving operation. Please help us Patch up Lexi, make her well again and ensure she leads a long, happy life with Pat, Don and their family.
