11th HOUR RESCUE IN TEXAS?

One of our members who is hundreds of miles away and unable to get to this dog herself, has asked if there might be someone in the Arlington Texas area who might be able to work a miracle this morning for Wiggles. All the information is available by clicking on the photo. Maybe fate and a loving hand will step in this morning. We understand that some donations have been pledged to cover the rescue fee.

Adoption Process:
Arlington Animal Services adoption program is open to anyone wishing to adopt a pet. The adoption process is simple. You may visit the shelter or view our available animals online at www.arlingtontx.gov/animals/adoptions.html. After making your selection, you will need to complete the Pre-Adoption & Sterilization Agreement in person to have the selected pet scheduled for spay/neuter the next available appointment, unless already altered. You will need to be able to pick up the pet after surgery usually the following business day between 4-6pm. The adoption fee is $100 to adopt a dog and $90 to adopt a cat which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, appropriate testing (Heartworm or Cat Combo) and city license for Arlington residents.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING AN ANIMAL ON STRAY HOLD?
You will need to come to the shelter with your identification to complete an adoption interest card.

NOT LOCAL TO ARLINGTON?
It can be done but it will take a lot of initiative on your part. You can locate and arrange for an adoption placement partner (rescue group) to tag the animal and work through them to adopt. Most area rescue groups are listed on Petfinder.com under Find Area Welfare Groups.

Not Able to Adopt, You Can Still Help Volunteer – If you are interested in volunteering please visit the city website at http://www.arlingtontx.gov/animals/volunteers.html.

Foster Arlington Animal Services does have a foster program for Arlington residents. You would start by becoming a registered volunteer and then attend a Foster Program Orientation. http://www.arlingtontx.gov/animals/fosterprogram.htmlFoster for an Adoption Placement Partner Our approved Adoption Placement Partners are always looking for foster homes. If you live outside the city of Arlington, this may be another option for you to become a foster parent

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
