ADOPTING A DOG FROM SOI DOG FOUNDATION

In a number of recent posts enquiries have been made whether it is possible to adopt one or the other of our dogs such as Hero above. It is very difficult to adopt dogs and cats locally here owing to the transient nature of most of the people who work and live in Phuket especially.

Soi Dog foundation has sent hundreds of dogs and cats overseas to many different countries and does not charge any fees for doing so. However the costs of sending have to be met by the adopter and these can vary considerably depending on size of dog, country being sent to and method of transport. Depending on airline and availability of a flight volunteer costs can be very low to US compared with cargo. Please note we also do not send dogs until fully restored to health, and we have checked their temperament, so dogs like Hero, Holly and Rudolph are not ready yet.

Australia have recently changed their regulations though still complex and we are looking into this.

Europe Including the UK takes approximately 4 months as dogs and cats require blood test doing at approved EU lab and there is then a waiting period. There is no quarantine in any country in Europe now, providing correct steps are followed.

USA and Canada are very simple and have literally had a dog in the US within 5 days of initial enquiry.
