SERBIAN WOLF RESCUER NEEDS US

For all who are so inclined, please send out positive thoughts and prayers tonight for Dejan at the Svetlana-Vucjak Shelter in Serbia. There was a gruesome wolf hunt today and Dejan is trying to cope with the wounds of two animals who survived but are badly injured. Dejan is alone in his rescue efforts for the wolves, except for those of you who read this tonight.

Many of you may know that we’re developing a wolf sanctuary to allow the rescued wolves to return to protected parcels of land next summer. On days like today, with what we have witnessed, we see just how critical it is to create this haven for wolves and the education center which can begin to change perceptions. These animals indeed play and sleep and explore the world in ways very similar to the dogs we love and cherish. Protection is long overdue here and we’ll do everything in our power to promote an end to the pursuit of wolves for sport by wealthy Americans and others who fly to Serbia specifically for this madness.

May today’s survivors recover from their injuries. We would love to welcome them to our sanctuary so that they may again walk in the tall grass with the sun on their faces.
