18@8 Exhibition: Furla Art Bags For Auction

 




Wei-Ling Gallerys highly anticipated annual 18@8 exhibition is upon us! Bringing to the forefront a selection of the countrys most compelling and interesting artists all working within the perimeters of a theme or the exploration of an idea, the theme this year delves into the concept of narcissism the state of the world today and how social media has changed people and the way they view themselves.

The 18@8 series is now into its ninth edition after its inaugural debut in 2005 which featured 18 artists at No.8 Jalan Scott (the Gallerys address). This year the gallery is working with 12 selected artists of which represent some of the countrys leading names in the contemporary art scene, including Ivan lam, Anurendra Jegadeva & Zulkifli Yusoff, in a collaboration with FURLA, the Italian premium leather goods and fashion accessories brand, who have provided 12 of their coveted Candy Bags to the artists to work on. These art bags will go up for auction to aid the SPCA Selangor (Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals).

This years list of 18@8 artists are:

Azliza Ayob, Anurendra Jegadeva, Cheng Yen Pheng, Choy Chun Wei, Hamidi Hadi, Ilham Fadhli, Ivan Lam, Kim Ng, Sean Lean, Wong Chee Meng, Yau Bee Ling, Zulkilfi Yusoff.

All proceeds will be donated to SPCA Selangor. Each artist will receive RM500 from the sale of his/her custom-designed Furla Candy Bag.

We receive more than 700 unwanted, homeless or abused animals every month.
