FERAL CAT FAMILIES TO RECEIVE SURPRISES FROM HARMONY FUND

Today, I investigated a tip about a kittens jumping in and out of a dumpster behind a gas station in a nearby city. I questioned a gas station employee who seemed slightly amused and provided little information. But a search behind neighboring buildings led to a nesting site where there were cats of all ages congregating. One male hissed at me and several scattered into the woods.
I left ample food for them in various locations on the property and will return tomorrow to speak with the business owner about installing some insulated winter shelters for the colony and to arrange for daily care of a feeding station as well as a spay/neuter program.
Though much of my time at the Harmony Fund is spent addressing major crises for animals on the world stage, I cherish the opportunities to help nearby and this colony of cats is about to receive such wonderful surprises. We’ll see to it that they stay warm and dry and that food and veterinary attention begin immediately.
As I walked away today, I saw so many eyes, peering out at me from the bushes and I made them the simple promise, “I’ll be back tomorrow, and I’m bringing breakfast with me.”
