The Demise Of Ming The Mollusk (at 507 Years Old)

There is so much we don’t know about life on earth:http://www.care2.com/causes/scientists-killed-the-worlds-oldest-creature-and-then-it-got-older.html
Ming the Mollusk
Born: 1499
Killed: 2006
And with all due respect, so what if we find out why Ming the Mollusk could live until 507 years old. Can we live that long? Do we want to?
It’s just like animal testing. The results aren’t replicable on humans. So what if it works on rats or rabbits? We are not rodents and we are biologically different.
Another way to live life is just to live and let live and never to intentionally harm other creatures, not even in the name of knowledge or research. The planet holds too many undiscovered secrets which may be best left as it is. Our human lifespan is very short, let’s just do the best we can to preserve and respect life.
