Hi Dr Chan,

I am fostering a pregnant mother cat from end of July 2013. She is a stray cat which my friend brought for neuter but found pregnant. The mother delivered babies on end of August 2013. Yesterday I found one of the babies struggle and brought her to the clinic. Vet said she is possibly inherited the FPV from the mother. No medication gave, the vet said the only thing can do is give DMG(I got it at home), isolated from mother and feed food manually.
The bill for consultation is RM150 because it is public holiday. Can I claim for medical subsidy for the consultation fee?
Thank you.
Regards,
May Ki

Hi Dr Chan,

I am start fostered this mother cat(Creamy) from July, she was delivered 5 babies around 20 August 2013. Both mother and babies looks normal all the while until 16/9/13, one baby found struggled, can’t stand, can’t walked. I brought her to the clinic (as the email I wrote to you on 17/9/13). She was passed away on 19/9/13 morning.

The other 4 babies looks weak, diarrhea and vomiting. I was brought the whole family to vet again. Doctor said mother looks normal and no need any treatment, the babies can’t really confirmed what problem. If according to the symptoms of first baby, it is possible Feline Panleukopenia Virus. Currently 2 kinds of antibiotics and probiotic given to the babies. But unfortunately, another 2 babies passed away respectively on 19/9/13 (eaten by mother, I found a piece of bone in the cage) and 20/9/13 night.

The 2 babies in the photos attached are the only left babies, I was separated them from mother and feed manually to observed their conditions. The orange baby looks more weak and have to force feeding while the orange white started to eat minced chicken meat by himself on yesterday (21/9/13) night.

I hope you can approved my application.

Thank you.
Regards,
May Ki
