Organized by Temasek Polytechnic, the Skills Certificate in Pet Care & Management (Companion Animals) course targets pet retail shop personnel and those working in the industry, with the aim of imparting skills and knowledge important for responsible animal care and welfare.
This was a good opportunity for us to get the pet retail industry on our side. We wanted to help pet shop owners and staff understand that they play a vital role in educating potential pet owners who come to their stores. They can help reduce pet neglect and abandonment.
Thank you Temasek Polytechnic for granting our request and giving us a chance to speak to the participants. Our Executive Director, Corinne Fong, shared many case studies of animal neglect and abuse, using the cases to illustrate the importance of client education and managing client expectations.
Pet shops can and should play a vital role in fostering responsible pet ownership.
