Thank you to Susan Repp for recently fundraising to help the dogs and cats of Thailand and for bringing awareness to the dog meat trade. Susan recently used online fundraising to raise much needed funds by cycling around the mountains of Colorado, USA. Susan was kind enough to provide a summary of her motivations in undertaking this gruelling task (see below).
“This year I read of the terrible, barbaric trade in dog meat in Thailand and other parts of Asia and like many other people had no idea the horrors that took place. I could not put the images out of my mind, I cried, I felt so angry and helpless. I then came across Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, I watched the video and read about their plight for the animals in great need. It was so encouraging and gave me back some faith in humanity—caring people fighting so hard to stop this indescribable abuse and spending 24/7 in the trenches looking after those rescued. I read about what other wonderful supporters were doing for Soi Dog. I just couldn’t turn a blind eye I had to join in the cause somehow. I realized most people did not know the true nature of this trade so bringing public awareness and raising donations was my small way of helping the cause. “Ride for their Lives” fundraiser represented the uphill fight to eradicate this terrible practice forever. Each week my poor unsuspecting friends and myself bike (or hike) around Colorado with the final challenge of riding up Pikes Peak, an awesome, devil of a 14er (14,000’ mountain). I hope I can make it, every time I want to stop I remind myself why I am doing this! I can stop, go home to a warm shower, eat, drink and live to see another day. The animals face the journey from hell to certain death by torture!”
“This foundation helps those who are saved from this shameful trade”.
“Thank you all that are part of Soi Dog!”
