Updates On 5th Sep 2013

Good afternoon Facebook Friends!!

Today we’re giving you an update on Mia, the injured macaque who underwent surgery last week.

Post-surgery:

Mia has been showing gradual positive progress on her road to recovery. She is regaining back her body weight and is much stronger now. Dr Lye and his team have been assisting greatly on her road to recovery. With Mias remarkable resilient attitude despite the occasional discomfort she faces post-surgery; she will be starting her physiotherapy soon.

To deter her from getting bored and picking on her post-surgical stitches on her hips and thigh, she is being given different forms of environmental enrichments daily to encourage the continual usage of her natural instincts. The ultimate goal is to release her back into the wild and we do not want her to lose her natural behaviours and be dependent upon and accustomed to humans.

We are very happy with the way her recovery is going, and we hope to be able to release her in the coming weeks!!

Get well soon Mia!!
