29 CMT At NP Shelter2013-08-18

Earlier this year approximately 90 cats were rescued when smugglers were intercepted transporting the cats to Vietnam for slaughter. The cats were taken to the Nakhon Phanom rescue shelter in NE Thailand which acts as a receiving point for dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade.

The Nakhon Phanom shelter already over capacity with dogs was not a suitable location for sheltering the cats on an extended basis. 3 weeks ago the majority of the cats were moved to Soi Dog Bangkok and many have been adopted. The remaining 29 cats are now in transit to Elephant Nature Park’s facility in Chiang Mai. Many thanks to ENP for opening their doors to these lucky felines!

This video was taken of the cats being prepared for their trip to ENP.
