Polkadot, Rescued Cat, In Need Of Medical Help (Marina Mustaphas)

We received this request a few minutes ago, from Marina Mustapha. Marina is asking for a full sponsorship for this cat’s medical treatment. We have explained that we can only provide our medical subsidy as per policy and have advised Marina to:

1. Also apply to PetFinder.my and we could work together with them on a bigger subsidy if they are agreeable to it.

2. Apply to other organisations that can give her a full subsidy.

We truly appreciate Marina’s efforts but we apologise that we are not able to give a full subsidy unless readers want to chip in and add on to our subsidy. Our Medical Subsidy is open to Polkadot and Marina, but we have our policies to follow.

We would also like to advise all applicants that should they require a full subsidy to please ask from organisations that offer this provision as we prefer not to do online fundraising for our medical cases. It can lead to a lot of misunderstanding, wrong perceptions and accusations that we practise “double standards”.

We have funds, which is raised through our merchandise and from well-wishers and donors, but these funds have to be disbursed according to our policies, to be fair to all applicants. But should any reader wish to contribute anything extra, their contribution is most welcomed.

Here is Polkadot’s case:

Subject: POLKADOT-FEMALE STRAY CAT WITH CRITICAL CONDITION
To: “chankahyein@gmail.com” <chankahyein@gmail.com>

Dear Dr Chan,
I was on the way out for my morning appointment & I saw a cat at the residents’ parking lot.
I wanted to feed her so I approached her closely & noticed she look disorientated.
She was slowly try to scratch the wall- as if she is in pain.
I can see the were dirts/oil on her face & her rear. Suspected she was run over by a car.

I made a decision to cancel my appointment & run upstairs to my apartment to get a carrier.
When I went down again to get her, I saw in a distance she lie still-no movement.
Walked quickly & checked on her.I saw her is still breathing! No time to spare & put her in the carrier carefully & rush to the vet ASAP.
The vet was overwhelmed with so many animal patients this festive season but they attended to the cat (named her Polkadot) immediately.

The vet believed she has internal bleedings & her condition is very critical. She was breathing heavily.
At the moment, vet put her on drips & pain relief medication to stabilize her condition.
Vet told me her body temperature is below normal.
If she survives in next 6-8 hours, further tests will be done to determine the extent of her injuries.
I would like to make a claim with Animalcare for Polkadot & please help to pray for her.

No animal deserve to be left alone suffers the crucial pain of any injuries.
I will submit all original receipts & itemized bill once she can be discharged from the vet.
I paid the initial hospitalization deposit of RM100.But we won’t know the full bill until she is discharge.
Or do I need to submit the deposit receipt first? Please advise.

I just returned from vet less than 45mins ago. Attached Polkadot’s 2 pictures from the rescue site & 2 pictures at the vet.
I also attached herewith copy of the deposit receipt.

I appreciate very much a help from Animalcare to subsidise the medical vet for Polkadot in full. Can you help to consider?I have 2 special need cats with kidney conditions that really required a high costs of medication & weekly on going treatment with special food.

Thank you

Regards,
Marina Mustapha
