We are jointly subsidising this case with PetFinder.my and we have agreed on a total joint subsidy of 70% for Dusty. The bill is RM1157, so our subsidy is RM405 (which is 35%). This subsidy comes from all donors through our Medical Fund (RM155) and Berjaya Cares (RM250).
According to Amelia, Dusty is fine now. We have requested for updated photos.

Hi Dr Chan,
I am Amelia (full name Amelia Shahrin). We have communicated on email on many occasions, previously Kopitiam back in 2011.
Me and my bf have been feeding some cats at our condo block’s basement carpark at Damansara Perdana. There is a very friendly cat which we named Dusty. We will normally see him in the evenings every 2 days or so for food and some belly rubs.
The last we saw him was on Friday night and he looked fine. He is usually very talkative and respond to our voice from afar. Tonite after a movie at 11pm, we saw Dusty under the car and call for him. Normally he would approach us for food and belly rubs but today his mew was very soft and weak and he didnt move. We knew something is wrong because he is normally not like that. I had to go on all fours to grab him from under the car. I felt his body was warmer than usual and his eyes was all pale. I tried to feed him with some water but he refuse to drink. His breathing was also shallow. He has some dried funny looking liquid on top of his right ear, it was not there on Friday. He also looked more dirty than usual. Not wanting to risk anything, we decided to send him to the vet.
We met Dr at 12.15pm and he mentioned that Dusty is jaundiced and very pale. He said that most likely Dusty had this for very long time or virus infection. Cant be sure until we get the blood test tomorrow. Dr clean the funny liquid of Dusty’s ear and shave the fur and found one huge gaping hole filled with pus. He gave Dusty some antibiotics thru mouth and Dusty started to foam on his mouth. We just have to wait for the blood test result tmrw evening. I paid a deposit for RM300.
I would be applying for the medical subsidy from Animalcare (50% only). Will do to the necessary and send you the required forms when everything is done.
Will update you again once I hear from the vet.
Thank you and have a good day!
Also attached are some of the pictures taken at the vet earlier.
Cheers,
Amelia

Hi Dr Chan,
Hope you are having a good week so far. I was down with flu after sending Dusty to the vet. I apologise for sending updates thru sms as I thought it would be quicker to update you that way. This is the updates from the vet so far about Dusty :
Tues (9/7/13)
Dr said that Dusty is having very high levels of liver enzymes (AST and ALT) in his system. In fact his eyes turned yellow and in his mouth turned yellow as well (jaundiced) since we last saw him on Sunday. His white blood cells level is high as he isfightinginfection and his red blood cells level is low. We got the vet to do a FIV and FeLV test and Dusty tested negative for FIV but a faint blue line appear for FeLV. This could be a false positive as Dusty’s immune system is down. Was adviced to do another test when he gets better. Dr said for the time being they are trying to flush his liver and try to make the red blood count go up and hopefully the liver enzymes level will go down. Dusty was not eating as well. I tried to feed him AD by hand but he refuse to eat and drink. Dusty was later force fed by the hospital staff. Dusty responded better today compared to Sunday but still very weak.
Wed (10/7/13)
Dr called us and informed me that his liver enzymes level is improving today and he ate all the AD by himself!
Friday (12/7/13)
We went to visit Dusty and he was so talkative. Think he is bored. He asked for his usual dose of belly rubs. His red blood count has gone up but his liver enzymes has also gone up. He still looked very yellow. Dr informed us that while Dusty is improving but it would be in a slow rather as he has FeLV. She said that Dusty would be in the hospital for at least one more week.
At the moment, I have paid RM300 deposit on Sunday and another RM500 on Friday. Dusty’s daily medical treatment is RM100/day (includes medicines). At this rate, I think the cost will go higher than RM1K since he needs to be there for at least another 1 week or so. I think I would be applying from another fund for Dusty and am going to apply from Petfinder.my. Would that be ok? I will post the receipt for this week by post to you next week.
Attached are some pictures I took of him yesterday. Kind of blur because he kept moving asking for rubs.. Please also see picture him giving the “kesian” look.
Thank you and have a nice day.
