Kalasin Sterilization Project Day 3...

Some more photos of the Kalasin Province Sterilization program which is hoped to see the sterilization of over 4,000 dogs in the province. In partnership with Soi Dog the Department of Livestock plans to expand this program to other provinces where the dog meat trade proliferates in conjunction with public awareness and education programs.

Sterilization (spay/neuter) is the ONLY effective and humane way of addressing the root cause of street animal suffering this being over population.

It has been scientifically proven that spaying & neutering 75% to 80% of a population of a stray population will see a significant reduction in numbers. The number of stray animals on Phuket is now reducing despite the rapidly increasing human population. The situation in other areas of Thailand is not under control & will require a massive effort by groups like Soi Dog & the department of livestock.

By demonstrating that humane spaying & neutering works we can set an example to the rest of the Asian region, where in many countries inhumane and primitive methods of population control are used to this day.

Please donate today so that this important work can continue. You can be an important part of the solution by donating today at: https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/

It is imperative that we continue this program, but sterilizing animals is expensive and we are limited by the revenue we generate. Vets and dog catchers have to be paid and drugs and other surgical supplies purchased. Overheads like fuel and trucks also have to be paid for.

Soi Dog has sterilized over 52,238 dogs and cats as of July 2013
