WOLF SAVED IN SERBIA: FOOD & MEDICINE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_hZ-qREgPs
The Harmony Fund international animal rescue charity is working with an extraordinary rescuer in Serbia where wolves are regularly hunted. Often the surviving pups are stolen by hunters and raised in small cages until they are full size and then they are released to be hunted by the same men who killed their mothers. After living in cages their whole lives, the wolves have no muscle tone, no experience in the woods, no chance at escape.
The wolf you see here has just been rescued by Dejan, our hero on the ground in Serbia. He lives very, very modestly and the concrete kennel is the best that he can offer this wolf for now. But something much, much better is on the horizon.
The Harmony Fund is in the research and development phase for a large wolf sanctuary for the rescued wolves here. They would have acres and acres of natural habitat to roam in and to live in a pack. We’re consulting with a team of wolf experts in Colorado today and hope to begin getting the sanctuary underway within 6 months. The sanctuary would also become an education center to try to teach new generations to respect and cherish wolves rather than to fear and hate them.
For today, you can help with donations for the wolves’ food and veterinary care. There are also 160 dogs at the shelter here in Serbia, and we are urgently raising funds to feed them as well. Dejan has only a modest income, barely enough to feed himself let alone all the animals he saves. Before he met us, he was indeed in a state of despair as the restaurant that used to provide meals for his animals has suddenly closed. It’s not easy with so many mouths to feed. We could really, really use some help with the costs of this mission.
