Volunteer rescuer Tracie Mitchum has just retrieved this dog from inside a dumpster at the YMCA in Summerville, South Carolina. Yes, a dumpster. Let’s hope the dog fell in there while searching for food, because the thought of someone deliberately putting him in the dumpster is too hard to stomach.

The dog has already had a bath and a meal and some flea medicine. He is shy and docile. Where would we be without such incredible volunteers? We feel very fortunate tonight that help arrived before the trash disposal company which may not have noticed him inside the dumpster.
