A Letter From Meiji

This afternoon,I received a mail from an unfamiliar source. There was a PDF attached and it was a letter supposedly signed by Meiji. This must be a response from the post written yesterday (above). Meiji has no internet access, so obviously, someone must have briefed her and obtained this response from her. I have reproduced the PDF in two jpegs as below for the benefit of the people whose names have been mentioned.

I have written back to the anonymous person requesting his/her help to ask Meiji how we should continue sponsoring our 3 dogs, Russell, Sweetie and Jackie even though her letter clearly says that she does not want us to channel anymore funds or items to her. We would appreciate a confirmation on the subject of our 3 sponsored dogs, if possible.

If we don’t hear from this person again, I suppose this the closure and as per stated in the letter, Meiji does not need our help anymore and we shall respect her request.

I am puzzled with this sudden turn of events. My last communication with Meiji on the phone was on the night of 31st May when she called me regarding Doby’s passing. It was a friendly phonecall but the call was cut off abruptly because my phone battery was running low. I was in a place where reception was poor and I could not send back a text message. My last text message to her was on 4th June when I asked if she needed dogfood to which she replied she still had enough. That was the last I heard from her (though a text message from her phone).

Subsequent to that, I have made numerous attempts to contact Meiji, especially when donors asked me why Meiji had not acknowledged their donations. All calls were not picked up. All text messages were left unanswered. Three donors contacted her and received the same non-response.

We know from the supplier that Meiji was at the supplier’s warehouse with a friend who purchased dogfood for her just two weeks ago. According to the supplier, Meiji looked well and healthy and was in good spirits. She was also able to use her phone to contact the supplier so we know her phone is in good working order.

If we do not hear from Meiji again, we shall respect her wish and privacy.

I suppose some things in life are unexplained and best left that way.

We wish to thank all readers who have supported Meiji in these 4 years whenever we appealed for help on her behalf.

We wish Meiji and her dogs all the best in life – good health and happiness.
