From A Certain Death To A Forever Home In The USA
Nakhon, one of thousands of dogs rescued from the illegal dog meat trade left for his forever home in the USA a few days ago. Nakhon was one of over 1,500 rescued from smugglers in just the last few months. Transported in cages often 12 dogs to a cage on 6 wheel trucks with cages stacked one on top of the other stolen dogs are transported across Laos to Vietnam in extreme heat with no food or water for up to 72 hours.
Many die on the journey and tragically could be regarded as the lucky ones. The fate which awaits the surviving ones is a slow and painful death by torture, often being skinned or boiled alive.
Even those that are rescued are often permanently scarred. One of Nakhons limbs had to be amputated as it had been crushed beyond recognition as smugglers stacked cages on their truck.
With 12 dogs to a cage each cage ways several hundred kilograms and protruding limbs are often crushed as smugglers stack one cage onto another.
Nakhon is one of the lucky few to be adopted, thousands more dogs live in crowded and underfunded government shelters and these dogs need your help now! Join the Magic 1000 club today and become part of the solution towards ending the illegal dog meat trade.
