Spaying Subsidy For 11 Cats In Jerantut (Ngoo Nguk Pohs)

We have subsidised RM1100 for the neutering of these 11 cats and this subsidy comes from all donors through our Medical Fund (RM550) and Berjaya Cares (RM550).

Mdm Ngoo Nguk Poh, who resides in Jerantut, contacted me sometime last year to ask for advice over the cats she had rescued and was looking after. I thought proper veterinary advice was needed, so I obtained permission from a vet to pass his phone number to Mdm Ngoo.

Sometime last month, Mdm Ngoo contacted me again and this time she was crying as a neighbour had started complaining about her cats “making a lot of noise”.

In our phone conversation, I had already advised Mdm Ngoo to get her cats neutered but she had not done so.

It appears that her cats, especially the males, were making the mating call and we know how disturbing that sound can be.

So I advised Mdm Ngoo to get her cats neutered. She was also keeping all her cats in cages, unable to let them out because they were not neutered.

Mdm Ngoo reverted to say the vet’s charges over there are extremely high and even with our subsidy, she could not afford it. Moreover, she is totally IT-illiterate and she lamented that her daughter refused to help her email the photos to me.

Mdm Ngoo finally contacted the vet (whom I recommended to her to seek advice) and would you know it? The vet agreed to drive up to Jerantut to help her neuter as many cats as possible.

We want to thank this vet for his kindness in helping Mdm Ngoo and her cats.

The neutering was done last week and a total of 11 cats were neutered, ie. 8 female and 3 males. The rest of the cats are too young to be neutered.

I contacted Mdm Ngoo today to check on the cats and she said all of them are doing well. There were no problems except for some redness on the surgical wound right after the surgery.

“All the cats are healthy and have recovered now”, she said.

The following photos were taken by the vet, some before-and-after surgery, some only after surgery.

Please do not be alarmed that the tongues are out. This is normal during surgery and after until the animal awakens.

Mdm Ngoo assured me that all the 11 cats are totally recovered now and doing well. She thanks all donors for the financial help. Mdm Ngoo paid the balance of the bill.
