Father Frank Mann’s sharing of his experiences is something that all of us encounter every day. The billboard, the calf in the lorry and live fish in the overcrowded aquarium in the restaurant – don’t we also see this often? Sometimes, we take these experiences for granted. Sometimes we brush them off, refusing to reflect on them or even forbid ourselves from thinking too deeply about them because we do not wish to deprive our tongue of the pleasures it craves for. But sometimes, when the time is right, these experiences create an “awakening” in us, as they did for Father Frank Mann and when this happens, it becomes a powerful force and message to institute change in ourselves and others.

If we are able to feel the suffering of animals, the most useful and practical response would be to be kind to them, in whatever ways possible. There is SO much we can do for them.
