Medical Subsidy For Fifi, Community Cat (Dani Irwan Bin Masbah�s)

We have subsidised RM41 for Fifi’s bill. Fifi is a community cat looked after by Dani Irwan.

Hello Dr. Chan.

I would like to apply for a medical subsidy for Fifi, the other stray cat that I’m feeding & taking care of. If you recall Fifi was the female stray cat that I applied the neutering subsidy for not long ago. Unfortunately no adopter has come forward for her…yet. In the meantime, she has developed some sort of itchiness or soreness at her neutering operation’s suture site. The suture has been absorbed completely, and the wound has healed nicely enough. But for some reason she has been licking at it incessantly, up to the point where the skin there has turned red & a bit hard to the touch. See attached photos. I’ve been putting some ointment & also iodine on her for the past 2 weeks or so, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Then, several days ago I noticed what appeared to be a little bit of discharge of pus over the area. I quickly brought her to the vet, who subsequently told me that it’s some sort of fungal or bacterial infection. Fifi was prescribed the usual medicine to treat the problem, i.e. some antibiotics, fungal, anti-swelling & anti-itchiness medication, vitamins and also an antifungal cream. I took the opportunity to deworm & deflea her as well. Unfortunately she couldn’t be vaccinated at the time since she’s on antibiotics.

The total cost for Fifi’s treatment was RM102 (see attached photo of the receipt), but since the deflea-ing cost isn’t covered then the total that I’d like to apply the subsidy for is RM82.

Can I proceed with the subsidy claim, Dr. Chan?
