Dear All
We would like to address the issues surrounding the recent Case of Ai, the Jack Russell.
On Saturday, 9 March 2013, we received a few calls from members of the public of a Jack Russell that was laying motionless on a grass patch along Sengkang.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) responds to cases which involve alleged abuse of animals or when it is found to be in distress, we do not pick up deceased bodies.
In this case, our Animal Service Officer rightfully directed callers to the National Environment Agency (NEA) to assist in this matter as they are the relevant authority which handles collection of the remains of animals. The SPCA did notify NEA about the Jack Russell directly after we received the very first phone call from a member of the public.
The SPCA has since spoken to the owner of Ai to further discuss this matter in which we have explained our part. Our society would like to condole her once again on the tragic loss of her dog.
We do hope that we have made our stand clear on this situation and look forward to your continued support.
Thank you.
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
