FINDING DOMINO – BY ZAT & IZZY (The story of Domino’s capture).
This past week has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for us all with the disappearance of 2 soi dogs just hours/days after their arrival in their new homes in the UK & the USA. Thankfully both Domino & Faust have been found safe & well. This Izzy & Zat’s story of how little Domino was finally found….
“After another day of flyering, spreading the word and chasing up leads, we were on our way back home when we heard there might be another possble sighting of Domino. Our friend dropped us off at a service station & we called a taxi to take us to the sighting area which was in the middle of absolutely nowhere – field, after field, after field, as far as we could see. Another melt down for me as we didnt know where to start, just 2 of us on foot with so much ground to cover and only 1 hour of daylight left.
A farmer put us in the direction of Domino’s last sighting 1.5 hours ago and we started plodding through muddy fields. We hit a point where we started to think, this is an impossible task, we’re getting nowhere. In this moment of despair, we just happened to look in the right direction and saw Dom’s little head popping out from the long grass. I Instantly thought I was having a heart attack, started hyperventilating and burst into tears again. Remembering what Kate,(expert dogtracker told me on the phone) we both dropped to the ground, of course right in the puddle, managed to ring Niz from SDF UK and tell her the news!! She advised again what to do and both me and zat lay there for a while throwing wet dog food towards Dom.
After 20 min, we maneuvered commando style through the mud and managed to get close.(GI Jane eat ya heart out). I started saying all the super six dogs names out aloud – Patsy!!, Moses! Lucky! Artiyai! Dton Keow! DOMINOOOOOOO!!!! and any thai word I could remember. We could see the recognition in his little face, something clicked. I kept saying the names and Zat went forward sticking his hands out and he started licking him. We managed to pick him up and just as we got back to the country lane a 4×4 stopped, a lady called Kirsten saying to us, ” I’m here looking for you, hop in the car and I’ll drive u anywhere u need to be”….another little miracle! The relief was monumental!!!
Domino has already been to the vet for a thorough check up, he is ok, just really tired, aching legs of walking minimum 20 miles in 3 days and very very thin. We decided that the best place for him to be is with us for the next few days as he knows us and feels safe with us. DOMINO WOULD LIKE TO THANK ( and this is his oscar receiving speech) the whole team at SDFUK, everyone involved in my rescue, from flyering, to drivers, to radio presenters, to expert trackers for advice and Mr Zuckerman for setting up facebook, without which this wouldnt have been such a well coordinated operation. Thanks for all my well wishes on here and the general public in the county durham area WOOF WOOF and goodnight ”
