This chip is as big as a grain of rice. It is usually implanted in the scruff of your animals neck and doesnt cause any pain for your pet. It costs around $40 to $70, depending on your vet. Its a simple little thing that could greatly increase your chances of finding your lost pet. However, the chip is only as good as the registration! Make sure that the chip is registered to you, with your phone numbers. If you move or change your phone numbers, remember to update that information. Of course, a microchip is only one part of your pets identification system. Your pet should also have a collar with tags on it.

Ultimately, there is no identification system that will help if your animal is lost where no one can find them, and no microchip can stop your animal from being hit by a car or being taken by someone with bad intentions. Its important not to let your pet run loose.

But, should the worst case scenario occur, youll be glad that you microchipped and registered your pet.
